Kobold Quarterly

I just wanted to take a moment and give a recommendation for Kobold Quarterly.  Yeah, I know it is not exactly OSR material but if you play Pathfinder then it is definitely good stuff.  I do not have  a subscription and  I have only browsed through the issues that my cousin has purchased but this magazine reminds me of the good old days of Dragon magazine.  Simply put, if you are looking for a print magazine devoted to role playing then check it out because you might find something worthwhile contained within.

  1. I may do so. I've played PF and actually stolen a few ideas for my D&D game.

    1. I think you will like it. I need to get it in gear and just get a subscription.

  2. I am glad you made this post, as I have heard about the 'zine in passing, but wasn't too sure what it was all about.

    Thanks!

** I sure would love for someone to write a bitter expose on Dragon magazine. Heh. I got so irritated that Dragon was nothing more than a Dungeons and Dragons pep squad.

Hey, TSR! You had other games, you know. Nothing says 'Buy Our Games' like a never ending series of D&D articles.

    Cretins...

  3. No problem! KQ is good stuff and I really dig it.

I agree about Dragon with one small exception. There actually was a time when - gasp! - the other TSR games received a little bit of coverage scattered among the issues; Gamma World, Marvel, and Star Frontiers among the games to receive articles. I know this will blow your mind but there was also a time where NON-TSR games got articles in Dragon! I remember a variant for Villains & Vigilantes being one such article. For the most part, Dragon was D&D exclusive and I really think their other game lines suffered because of that.
