A blog featuring the game related ramblings and ideas of a role-playing gamer since 1980. My interests include many games and gaming related topics, but my main focus will be on Open Ended Original Edition Old School Fantasy Adventure Sandbox Role Playing Games (OEOEFASRPG™) The Open-Ended Sandbox Exploration of Dungeons, Wilderness and Cities. Judges Guild Universal System
I remember the use of the Judges Guild Universal System in their products. I downloaded a pdf file of the system a few months ago. I just remembered it earlier and I was curious if anybody knows if it is free for use by others outside of Judges Guild? Does it require a licensing agreement or is it open? I tried to find some details but could not.
I sent a message to Bob Bledsaw II on Facebook to check out this blog. Let's see what he has to say. :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome idea - thanks! I just thought it would be cool to post up some stuff here on the blog in their format if it wouldn't be like stepping on their toes. Fingers crossed...
ReplyDeleteOk, his response:
ReplyDeleteAnthony,
First, thanks for bringing this to my attention.
The JG Universal System is free for others to use in print, if they credit Judges Guild as holding the copyright to same, AND if their product is priced free or non-profit.
If their product is for sale at a price, it would require a licensing agreement with us. In this case, usually a simple matter of terms on net sales. Of course, we would need to approve the content. JG has always tried to stay away from adult themes or anything with racial or religious overtones, but that should not hinder the typical adventure writer.
I hope this helps,
Sincerely,
Bob II
Nice work, Anthony! I just might stat up old school stuff in this blog with the Judges Guild Universal System.
