I'm just looking for some input here. I turned on Google+ comments and thought nothing of it. Now I realize that people are required to have a Google+ account and be signed into it to comment on my posts. I like the integration with Google+ but I could always just share or copy the post over. Any opinions on Google+ comments integration?
Google+ comments have been turned off temporarily. Thanks for any input.
A blog featuring the game related ramblings and ideas of a role-playing gamer since 1980. My interests include many games and gaming related topics, but my main focus will be on Open Ended Original Edition Old School Fantasy Adventure Sandbox Role Playing Games (OEOEFASRPG™) The Open-Ended Sandbox Exploration of Dungeons, Wilderness and Cities. Occasionally, other topics outside of gaming will be discussed here as well.

Google+ Comments: Yay or Nay?

Nay. It is a wormhole you cannot retreat from once you have stepped into it!
ReplyDeleteSound reasoning!
DeleteDo you want a blog, or do you want Google+? What is the point of having both? Google+ seems to have a nifty feature where you can post here and then have it show up on Google+. Since it just copies your blog, you have things in two locations where you only need to post on one. But I don't understand the need for repetition.
ReplyDeleteIf you limit it to Google+, only those with an account will post comment. On the other hand, it makes it easier for you and you could end up with readers on Google+ (I really don't understand what it offers, but you gain something from being on there.)
As it is, it seems all of the fiddling around with things removed all of the comments posted using any type of Google account for at least the past month. Those that used blogger or another login seem to have been saved.
The way to appease the most people is to make it hardest on you and maintain two separate sites. So do you want to maintain more than one site? If so then leave it as if, if not, then make it Google+ only.
Blog is better. If I think any of my posts are that earth shattering important then I can always repost or link to them.
Deletegoing to G+ comments excludes those that do not have g+ accounts from commenting.
ReplyDeleteTrue and a very good reason not to keep it.
DeleteI have heard enough already. I will NOT be using Google+ comments and I can fix those missing replies with a new post on steampunk RPGs with the replies properly credited ti the authors but integrated into the updated post.
ReplyDeleteHey, you and I have the same name! Oh wait...that is me.
DeleteNay. Folks who did it originally had trouble with others wanting to comment. Just was an unnecessary pain in the buttocks.
ReplyDeleteThe NAYS have it!
DeleteOh sure now that I have created a Google+ account:P
ReplyDeleteGoogle has being doing anything and everything to force people into Google+. I think they want it to be some sort of master account. Not a bad idea, but I think they are trying to force people into it. That way they can "compete" with facebook.
That's how I roll, Jamie. Instead of A to B to C I go A to (wait a sec is that C up ahead)...B to (where was I going next?) C...:-). Not really, but I do have a tendency to want to give everything a "fair shot" before saying no. Sometimes I should just listen to my gut.
