For all those that might be interested there is a new blog I recently started following - Purple Crayon Creations by Liam Thompson. He is posting about his game designs and ideas. He is just getting started but after a few emails back and fortth I suspect there will be plenty of interesting material on his blog. His designs are focused on playing instead of an encyclopedic knowledge of the rules so it should match the tastes of many of the gamers that follow my blog. Instead of going through my followers and trying to narrow down recommendations I realized that it would be easier to post to get the word out.
A blog featuring the game related ramblings and ideas of a role-playing gamer since 1980. My interests include many games and gaming related topics, but my main focus will be on Open Ended Original Edition Old School Fantasy Adventure Sandbox Role Playing Games (OEOEFASRPG™) The Open-Ended Sandbox Exploration of Dungeons, Wilderness and Cities. Occasionally, other topics outside of gaming will be discussed here as well.

Check Out Project BTR
One of my favorite blogs to read is Project BTR by Doug Wall. The "BTR" in the title stands for Better Than RIFTS. In his blog, Doug examines the RIFTS rules and setting with the intent of designing a new system and setting that is inspired by RIFTS but "better". Sure, "better" is a subjective term related to opinion and all that but this guy is doing some serious examination of the rules, setting, and assumptions of RIFTS. I have not been a long time follower but I look forward to new posts there because Doug is not just another RIFTS-hater but a fan of the game that wants things (rules, setting, etc.) improved. If you have ever been frustrated with the rules or setting of RIFTS, I highly recommend that you head over to Project BTR and give it a look. Doug has my attention and I hope to hold his printed game in my hands some day.
